A whole 3 months has whizzed by without updating the blog...oops! We are all doing well. Mark just got back from a week in Mexico, so still lots of travel in his life. I'm just trying to keep all the balls in the air with homework, projects, piano, playgroups, food, messes and sports. I feel like I spend a ton of time managing logistics of rides and scheduling, but I think that's a big part of a mother's role at this phase of a family's life.
Zelle is settled back into life at Waterford. Abby and Lu have adjusted back smoothly, too. Suse is just sort of making it thru this kindergarten year. It's mildly painful, but she has some cute friends in her class, and it's pretty great how she rides her scooter home by herself every day - rain, shine or snow. I need to get a picture of it some day.
We've picked up some tennis for Abby and Lu, and gymnastics for Abby, Lu and Suse. Goose is dying to do all these activities, too! She just wants to be one of the gang all the time. She was due to get her tri-weekly fever last week with Mark out of town, and thankfully didn't! It was such a relief. She just gets really quiet and grumpy, and wants me to hold her for 3 days straight, which would be great if I didn't have anything to do for 3 days every few weeks! I'm pretty sure she's coming down with her usual fever thing tonight, though. She gets these droopy eyes and starts breathing kind of short and shallow...bummer.
A couple of funny things lately:
While getting Goose dressed and pulling her shirt over her head, she said "Where are me? There I is!"
She sings lots of made up songs, and one of my favorites is this one where she repeats the words "he loves me, he loves you, he loves me, he loves you" over and over to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle."
I'm not sure if I've written this one before or not, but if she's mad at you, she'll say, "I'm serious at you!" or "you're 'sgusting." (disgusting - that's her worst insult)
Over MLK day, we had a long weekend where we took the girls up skiing at the Canyons. There was hardly any snow, but it was ok for us since we were staying on pretty easy runs with the girls. The weather was warm and beautiful - like spring skiing, and we had a great time! It was only Suse's 3rd time to go ever, and she kept up with everyone really well. I can see where the ski bug comes from when you have these magical days all together on the slopes with all the time up on the lifts. It's pretty great. I think we're going to look into season passes somewhere next year.
A few notes about the pictures on this post - Mittens the hamster is making his debut on the blog. He is Tuggy's present from Santa this year and a big hit so far, especially with the younger three. You can get Goosa to do just about anything if you tell her you'll take her to see Mittens. OK, his picture won't upload, never mind.
Another picture is at the new "Leonardo" discovery type museum downtown. We had a good time. It's pretty small, but fun, so I hope it makes it...
We had a fun time sledding with the little bit of snow we got one day. I love the lack of snow if it weren't for worry about a drought.
